    A Short Study on 1 Corinthians 12:1-31

First, read 1 Corinthians 12:1-31 and then spend some time working through the following questions.

What is Paul’s concern in verse 1 and how does this still apply to us today?

How does Paul define “diversity” (vs 4-7)?

When it comes to spiritual gifts, what are some of the things that the Holy Spirit does for believers (vs 4, 7, 11)?

What is the purpose of the gifts according to verse 7?

What illustration does Paul use in this chapter for the church (vs 12-13, 27)?

How do verses 12-14 connect the thoughts in verses 1-11 to the illustration Paul uses?

How would verses 14-20 stop some church members from feeling useless?

How would verses 21-26 stop some from feeling proud of their role and gifts within the church?

Who determines the roles of various individuals within the body of Christ (vs 18)?

When you think of yourself as a “member” of the body of Christ what comes to mind?

Along the same lines how does thinking of other Christians as members of Christ Himself affect the way you see them?

What are some practical ways you have seen verse 26 in action?
